WELCOME TO CALON

We have a deep passion to demonstrate the life changing power of Jesus to everyone we meet. We want everyone to know that our community is a place where everyone can Belong, Believe and Become all that God intended.

THE CALON STORY

Calon Church was established in 1995 by the late Pastor Eifion Watkins and Pastor Phylip Morgan under the name Ammanford Bible Church (ABC Church). The vision was always to make Jesus known, reach the lost and disciple believers with the goal to help people change the way they live.

In 2020, it was the leadership’s vision to change the name of the church to reflect the true core of who we wanted to be as a community of believers. To be the heart. To be a source of life and well-being, to be life and energy in the community, to be significant. To help people meet and know Jesus in an intimate and relational way. To enhance their life and live in the full purpose of what God has.

Though the vision for this church is large, the focus is intentionally small – to impact people with the life-changing power of Jesus one life at a time. January 2020 marked a significant change in the life of this church. Standing on years of legacy, with a new name, new purpose, the story has only just begun to unfold, and the half has not yet been told.

“Our passion is to reach people in our community who don’t yet know God and help them find a relationship with Him.”

what we believe

About The Bible

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About God

We believe in one personal God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power, authority and glory.

About Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father.

About the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who regenerates and indwells every believer in Jesus, assures us of our salvation, guides us into all truth, glorifies Jesus and convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and empowers us for service.

About Mankind

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way for the forgiveness of sin. God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation cannot be earned, it is a gift from God.

About Baptism

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ.

About the Church

We believe in the universal church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, obeying Him and bringing the gospel to the world.

About Communion

Communion symbolizes Jesus’ body that was broken and the blood that was shed for us. We believe that until Jesus Christ comes again, we must share communion together, remembering and celebrating the incredible act of love He carried out.

About Eternity

We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to the earth and the establishing of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, and the final judgment. We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
